Miscellaneous

How often should I meet with my supervisor?

Students are expected to meet with their supervisor every 1 to 2 weeks.

What is the best forum for asking questions?

Any generic questions should be posed on the Ed Discussion Board. This is so all students can benefit from the answer to your question. It is reasonable to assume that if you have a question, you will not be the only student with that enquiry. Any questions of a personal nature should be emailed to thesis_enquiries@eecs.uq.edu.au

When should I expect a response from my supervisor if I have emailed with an enquiry?

If you have not heard from your supervisor within 5 business days of sending your enquiry, please feel free to follow up with them. If after your follow up, you have not heard from your supervisor within a further 2 business days, please forward your enquiry to thesis_enquiries@eecs.uq.edu.au.

Please note that at busy times of semester, response times my take longer than expected.

What if I want to interrupt my thesis?

If you wish to interrupt in the middle a two-semester thesis course, permission and endorsement must be obtained from your supervisor confirming that you will be able to complete the current project on return to study. To be approved for interruption of thesis, you must have completed all assessment in Part A of the course. Your request will be referred to the Course Coordinator and then AD(A) for final approval. On return to study, you will need approval to enrol (from EAIT Faculty) in Part B of the alternative offering of the course. If you are taking an interruption of thesis, you must be on total interruption from university study i.e., not enrolled in any other courses for that semester.
