From January 2026, changes to the Bachelor of Information Technology and associated dual programs will be implemented.

Students commencing their studies in 2026 will be enrolled in the new program structure, which will be delivered for the first time from Semester 1 2026.

The program and course requirements are available on the Programs and Courses webpage:

What does this mean for current students?

As a current student, you can choose to:

  • Continue your studies under your current program and course requirements from the year you commenced, or
  • Change to the new program and course requirements in place from 2026.

Note: you cannot do a mixture of both.

When deciding whether to change to the new program, you will need to consider the courses you have already completed, as credit will only be given where it fits within the new rules.

The following information will help you navigate the program changes:

  1. Review the tabs on this webpage to learn more about what the changes mean for you and answers to common questions.

  2. Complete a transition checklist – these have been designed to help you compare your remaining requirements under your current rules and those under the new rules, and are available at the end of this page.

  3. Contact the School to confirm your study plan and discuss any questions - studentenquirires@eecs.uq.edu.au
