We are delighted to announce the inaugural UQ AI Conference Dry Run Seminar Series, proudly hosted by the UQ Data Science Discipline (School of EECS).

This event is part of our ongoing effort to support HDR students and early-career researchers in preparing for upcoming international AI conferences, while fostering a vibrant, cross-disciplinary research community within UQ.

The seminar provides a unique platform for presenters to rehearse their accepted conference papers, receive constructive feedback from the audience, and gain valuable presentation experience in a collegial environment.

All attendees — from HDR students to academics across disciplines — are warmly encouraged to join, engage, and exchange ideas about your research interests, methodologies, and visions for the future of AI.

Why You Should AttendThis is not just another seminar — it’s a rehearsal hub for UQ’s AI excellence, bringing together diverse expertise and perspectives:
  • HDRs and Postdocs: Hone your presentation before stepping onto the global stage.
  • Researchers and Academics: Discover emerging ideas from UQ’s next generation of AI scholars.
  • Attendees: Network, ask questions, and share your insights — whether you study robots, humans, data, or theory.
Session Highlights — 10 Research Talks - Covering the full spectrum of AI research:
  • Test-time Adaptation & Embodied AI
  • Video Understanding & Retrieval
  • Domain-specific Vision-Language Models
  • Human-Centric AI
  • Theory & Inference
Expect to hear talks that span from mathematical foundations to real-world applications — and yes, you’re encouraged to ask anything about AI (even the tough or funny questions).
