The EECS EMCA Advocacy Committee invites you to the following research workshop.

For the Numbers We Love (Hate): Using the Right Research Impact Metrics, and Running the Right Research Budget

We all know how important it is to get the critical numbers right when applying for grants, especially research impacts and budget. For early- and mid-career academics (EMCAs), we understand this is a love-and-hate relationship. We need to get those numbers to prove our status and be financially compliant, yet often times information is limited on where to access these numbers and how to correctly present them.

The workshop will provide essential information and training for academics targeting any grant applications (ARC, NHMRC, internal schemes, etc.), and will cover both research impact metrics and budgeting.

This workshop is not restricted to EMCAs – anyone who wishes to sync up with the latest practices and get a new stamp on their logbook is welcome!

[Agenda] Please see the flyer attached.

[Note – Interactive Session] The second tutorial on budget preparation with costing and pricing tool (CPT) is interactive and hands-on. To optimize experience for attendees, though not mandatory, it is strongly recommended to (1) bring along a laptop with UQ’s latest CPT spreadsheet downloaded; (2) spare 10 minutes pre-workshop to familiarize with Schedule 5 of UQ’s Enterprise Agreement and Travel Policy.
