Step right up and see the future unfold

The 2026 UQ Interaction Design Exhibit: Carnival of Futures will tranform the Andrew N. Liveris building forecourt into an immersive festival of playful interactive experiences.

Visitors will play and explore their way through a range of installations. The projects will be presented by students in the Bachelor of Information Technology (User Experience Design major) and the Master of Interaction Design programs. Their prototypes will demonstrate solutions that could be possible now but have not yet been widely imagined or adopted.

In our Carnival of Futures, each project becomes a future attraction:

  • Speculative technologies brought to life
  • Experiential provocations that challenge assumptions,
  • Interfaces that blend the physical and digital in unexpected ways,
  • Interactive installations that invite you to not just observe, but to perform, play and participate.

The Interaction Design exhibit continues its tradition as a major capstone experience at UQ, showcasing how emerging designers are developing interactive systems that can reshape how we live, work and connect.
