Commencing students
One of your first priorities when commencing the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is to choose your first courses.
We encourage you to access the information and recommended first year enrolment plans as specified on the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) first year courses and electives website.
If you already know the specialisation you want to do, you can focus your courses from your first year. A listing of our specialisations are below and specific information including program rules and recommended study plans are available to help plan your studies.
Electrical Engineering
Electrical engineering is concerned with electrical and electronic devices and systems.
This major prepares students to design cutting edge products for applications in communication systems, electronics, computer and digital hardware, automatic control systems and power systems.
It involves practical hands-on experience with high technology equipment.

Electrical and Biomedical Engineering - Dual Major
Biomedical engineering bridges the gap between technology, medicine and biology.
Through this dual major students study a broad range of foundation courses in engineering, mathematics, biology and physics followed by more advanced courses and laboratory training.

Electrical and Computer Engineering - Dual Major
Electrical and computer engineering is concerned with the design and management of computer-based systems including embedded systems and conventional computers.
This dual major prepares students to work in innovative environments, designing cutting-edge products for information and communication industries.

Mechatronic Engineering
Mechatronic engineering integrates precision mechanical engineering with electronics, computer systems and advanced controls. Graduates will acquire the knowledge and skills to design and build advanced products such as robots and machine tools, scientific instrumentation and automatic suspension and braking systems which can apply to a variety of industry sectors including mining, aerospace and defence.

Software Engineering
Software engineering deals with the challenges associated with the development, operation and maintenance of large-scale, high-quality software.
